A Year Of Revival

I am praying that 2016 will be a great year of revival for our church. For that to happen each member of our church must seek revival. Not just the Pastor, not just the Deacons, not just the officers and leaders in our church but for our church to experience a real and genuine revival every member of our church must seek revival. What is revival? The best biblical definition of revival is found in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Real revival is God’s response to the actions of God’s people to seek Him in a new, fresh and powerful way. Revival will not come to a spiritually indifferent people who are too proud and too spiritually unconcerned to admit that they need revival. Revival will not come to a people who are satisfied with the spiritual status quo in their own life and in their church. Revival will only come to a people who are willing to humble themselves and admit to God that they have left their first love, that they have become spiritually indifferent in their attitude toward God, that they have become lukewarm and mechanical in their worship, service, prayer life and in their walk with God. God has never been and He will never be interested or satisfied with going-through-the-motions worship, prayer and service. Real revival will only come to a people who are willing to confront sin in their life, who are willing to confess their sin to God and to turn from their wicked ways. Too many Christians are flippant in their attitude toward sin in their life. Too many Christians are comfortable with sin in their life and whatever “confession” of sin they may make is not really serious and sincere. In James 4:8-10, the Bible describes what real confession of sin looks like in the life of the believer, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded,Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 promises that when God’s people humble themselves and seek revival through persistent prayer, honest confession of sin and total and complete commitment to God, God will see and hear and He will send revival; He will heal them, bless them, drawn near to them and work in their midst fresh, new and powerful ways. Will you do your part to bring revival to our church in 2016?

See you Sunday, Bro. Chris
