Awards for Our Church

The annual meeting of the Friendship Baptist Association was held just a few days ago. Let me give you a report of some of the things that happened at the meeting. First, I was elected as the moderator of our association. The moderator has the responsibility of leading the Friendship Council leadership team, leading the meetings of the Executive Committee of our association and leading the association’s annual meeting. The moderator also works closely with our Associational Missionary and the committees of our association in the work of our association. Please pray for me as I take on this responsibility. Also, at the annual meeting our church received two recognitions from the Georgia Baptist Convention. Our church was recognized as the association’s leading contributor per resident member through the Cooperative Program for 2014. The Cooperative Program is how our church and the churches of the Georgia Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention support our missionaries and our world-wide mission work. Our church was also recognized as the largest percentage contributor through the Cooperative program for 2014. These recognitions reflect the commitment to mission support by our church that I am sure pleases and honors our Lord. Also at the annual meeting the churches of our association collected 1,360 backpacks filled with supplies that will be distributed to needy children in the Appalachian part of our country. What a fantastic number and what a fantastic ministry! In the business session of the meeting the messengers voted to make an important change concerning the association’s annual meeting. Next year our annual meeting will be held on Sunday evening, October 23 starting at 5:00 PM at Central Baptist Church in Americus. The meeting will be followed by a finger food fellowship at around 7:00 PM. This change will allow more people to be a part of the annual meeting. I support this change. This will allow everyone in our church, including and especially young adults the opportunity to be more involved in the work of our association. Through the Friendship Association the churches our area work together in various ministries and projects which have the ultimate goal of sharing the gospel in a more effective way with those who are without Christ in our community. In closing, I am grateful for the leadership of Bro. Charles Stoops our Association Missionary. He does a wonderful job in his often challenging ministry.

See You Sunday, Bro. Chris
